The UGFL-1 laboratory gravity separator primarily utilizes the density differences of the seeds themselves to sort various types of seeds after cleaning.

It is mainly suitable for gravity sorting of various types of cleaned seeds, removing heavy impurities (pebbles, soil particles) and unripe (insect-damaged, moldy) seeds, resulting in plump and healthy seeds.

Principle Explanation

The laboratory gravity separator primarily utilizes the density differences of the seeds themselves to sort various types of cleaned seeds.

The worktable has a triangular structure, consisting of a woven mesh top, a perforated aluminum plate in the middle, and a wooden guide frame at the bottom. The aluminum plate at the seed inlet has numerous perforations, ensuring ample ventilation for rapid seed stratification. The right-angled side opposite the inlet is the main discharge side. Starting from the right-angled side adjacent to the inlet, the zones are: light impurities, mixed zone, and good seeds.

Multiple adjustable metal baffles are located on the main discharge side, allowing adjustment of the distribution of various materials based on the sorting effect. During operation, heavier seeds move along the hypotenuse of the triangle. The far end of the hypotenuse is the heavy impurity zone. The discharge port for heavy impurities can be opened appropriately based on the proportion of heavy impurities in the seeds to separate stones, soil, etc.

The longitudinal and transverse tilt angles of the worktable, the table vibration frequency, and the airflow of the bottom fan are all adjustable to meet the sorting requirements of seeds of different sizes and densities. This allows for obtaining the density distribution of seeds in a batch, providing fundamental data for in-depth research on seed characteristics.

The worktable and transmission system are mounted on a robust frame with a blower system at the bottom, simplifying the machine's structure.

Driven by an electromagnetic vibrating feeder, the material in the hopper falls evenly onto the triangular worktable. Under the combined action of the worktable's reciprocating vibration and the blower at its bottom, the material begins to stratify. Lighter grains float to the top, while heavier grains sink to the bottom.

After stratification, the heavier grains in the lower layer gradually move towards the higher edge of the worktable (the hypotenuse of the triangle) due to friction, while the lighter grains in the upper layer move towards the lower edge (the right-angled side of the triangle). When the material reaches the discharge end, the separation process is essentially complete. At this point, the heavier grains are concentrated at the higher end of the worktable (the hypotenuse), the lighter grains at the lower end, and the grains in the mixed zone are concentrated in the middle of the worktable, thus separating the batch of seed raw materials into three parts according to density.

By adjusting the longitudinal and lateral tilt angles of the worktable, or the table vibration frequency and the airflow of the bottom fan, the distribution of materials on the table, the sorting quality, and the processing capacity of the machine can be adjusted.
